Fashion rocks!

As Lakme Fashion Week unveiled its designers and fashion in Mumbai, I was witness to the New York Fashion Week fuelled by excitement and drama.
The fashion night out was a manifestation of ���Fashion Rocks���. New York celebrated fashion in a way that had people thronging the streets, holding glasses of champagne and party hopping from store to store.New York came alive on that chilly night despite the cool drizzle and no cabs! We started at Henri Bendel where I got to chat with Dr Brandt about skin care who raved about his own flawless skin.
Our next stop was Roberto Cavalli, who as usual stood outside welcoming his personal guests. The DJ rocked the party as I swooned over his swooshing drapes on display. The Emmanuel Ungaro party was packed with celebrities. LuAnne de Lesseps, the Real Housewives of New York star who wore the seasonal purple colour with the sensual ruffles, hogged the limelight after Lindsay Lohan made her exit.
This child prot��g��e who revisits scandal again and again wore a striking white taffeta dress and has just been signed up as the new Ungaro girl. The champagne made me warmer as we walked towards Valentino and then J Mendel (fabulous fur) passing an attractive show window with a nude model laden with big luxe pearls piled with heavy metal chains, swarovskis and studs that made a rock and roll statement. Ah! The revival of the 80���s.
The buzz at the New York Fashion Week was palpable. My friend, Fern Mallis, the Director and Senior Vice President of IMG, took us to the funky W Bar that was made to look like a swimming pool! The front row comprised the super chic dressed with a jolt of wicked drama. I enjoyed seeing the glamour unfold as the rows filled up. Turbaned women with fetish boots denoting a hint of scandal.
Make up immaculately done with a winged eye look. Everything off the ramp was exaggerated. Big hair and big shoulders (loved the Alberta Ferretti studded ones) gave the illusion of a smaller waist and better posture or then seductive lace was worn. The lights dimmed as editor Andre Leon Talley settled to see the newest fashion. The ramp lights came on and celebrities like Emma Willis (Bruce Willis��� wife in a black tough 80���s-girl look), AnnaLynne McCord (90210) and Kellen Lutz (Twilight) amongst others came to light after being drowned by the paparazzi before the show.
